The Wimco is the only recognised large scale industrial units of the District which was established decades ago. Hundreds of peoples were directly or indirectly connected with this Industrial Unit for their livelihood.

But the factory had to close down in 1997 in view of ban order of Supreme Court of India on timber based Industries.

Although the High Power Committee constituted by Supreme Court of India gave the clearance to WIMCO for restarting production but due to non fulfilment of the conditions laid down by the High Power Committee, the factory is yet to become operational.

In this connection, meetings at various levels have been held from time to time but no fruitful out come has been achieved, mainly due to the reluctance of the management to resume production.

In the meantime most of the employees have left the organisation for finding beter avenues.

The closure of the factory has adversely affected the economy of the area.
