DISTRICT PRIMARY EDUCATION PROGRAMME(D.P.E.P)

The District Primary Education Project, Dhubri was launched in 1994 with total approved budjet of Rs. 30,664.00 Lakhs. The total plan period of the project is 5 years. The project is funded in the proportion of 85:15 between the World Bank and State Government respectively.

The objectives of DPEP are:

* Universal access and enrolment .

* To reduce drop-out upto 10% of 14 years age group.

*To achieve minimum level of learning.

Personnel entrusted to execute the project are:

Academic resource groups comprising district programme officer, district project co-ordinator, block resource co-ordinators, cluster resource co-ordinators, village and ward education committees(for urban areas).

Achievements of DPEP in Dhubri District :

# Overall enrolment has been enhanced from 145475 to 212523.

# Drop-out has been reduced to 3%.

# Retention rate has been increased up-to 3%.

# Sense of ownership among communties for school has been developed.
